Taapsee supports what Priyanka and Kangana opposed

It’s an undeniable fact that a huge disparity exists in remuneration accorded to male and female actors in Indian cinema. Sometimes the remuneration difference is insane as the disparity is big. Several actresses like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, and Kangana Ranaut has raised slogans for the pay differences and demanded an equal pay for both male and female actors in the movies. However, the svelte actress Taapsee Pannu prefers to differ and supports the wage gap between the heroes and heroines. Reacting to the issue Taapsee said that it’s unfair to demand an equal remuneration when the female-oriented movies won’t get equal collections.

“How many movies like these (female oriented films)do you actually come across in a year? Probably one or two maximum. It’s unfair to ask for an equal pay when you’re not getting an equal amount of opening collection.”

Tapsee further added, “The day the audience walks in the theatre and sees a female protagonist’s film, gives us the same amount of bumper opening of Rs. 10-15 crores, that day I will say we need to be paid equally.” On the work front, Taapsee is waiting for the release of ‘Anando Brahma’ in Telugu and ‘Judwaa 2’ in Hindi.
