Period and historical dramas have always been the major marquee draw as they bring back a bygone era where the realms of fantasy have no real limit. Though Hollywood is replete with the period, historical drama, Indian cinema is obsessed with regular commercial films. But, of late, Indian cinema has been focussing on historical and period dramas, thanks to SS Rajamouli for the visual wonder called ‘Baahubali’.
The stupendous success of ‘Baahubali’ has inspired many filmmakers to attempt these genres. Even the ‘Megastar’ Chiranjeevi who was in awe of the visual spectacle wants his ambitious project ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ to be forever remembered as a master pieced and seems to have given an ultimatum to Ram Charan not to compromise on the visual effects.
As ‘Sye Raa’ will be a historical drama set in the 1800s, it needs a lot of VFX works to recreate the bygone era. Ram Charan, who is producing the movie is heard to have roped the best VFX technicians from London for his father’s dream project. The film’s regular shooting is expected to commence soon and may hit the floors late next year.
