‘Arjun Reddy’ movie has garnered huge publicity even before the release for the hero’s controversial statements and bold content. Several film makers have lent huge support for the film making it one of the most-awaited movies to look out for. Let’s see whether the makers have succeeded in living up to their promise or not.
It’s the story of a jilted lover ‘Arjun Reddy’ and his journey to become normal. Unlike most of the College love stories which are set in an Engineering College, Arjun Reddy is set in a Medical College.
A top-notch medical student Arjun Reddy (Vijay Devarakonda) falls on heads over heels with his junior Preeti (Shalini) in first sight and warns the juniors not to intervene. Eventually, the girl too falls for him and when everything seems all fine, there comes the worst nightmare in their lives. All his dreams get shattered when the girl’s father gets Preeti married to a boy of his choice.
With this unexpected twist in his life, a happy-go-lucky Arjun Reddy turns alcoholic and gets addicted to drugs. Rest of the story is how Arjun Reddy realizes the situation is getting away from his hands and slowly came out of the addiction.
Unlike so many break up stories in the past, the journey of sadness shown in Arjun Reddy is quite different and probably it’s for the first time on a Telugu screen.
Vijay Deverakonda lives in the character of Arjun Reddy and his performance is definitely worth award winning.
The first half of the movie is racy and interesting. The scenes after Arjun Reddy’ break up written well.
Realistic scenes are without any background score
Medical College scenes are authentic Best scene is Holi episode where Arjun Reddy attacks Amit for mistreating Preeti.
The wild dialogues in this scene are mind-blowing Vijay’s performance in a lengthy sequence (quarrel with Preeti’s family) is outstanding Arjun’s conversation with his dad, when his grandmother dies
In-house court trial scene where Arjun confesses his mistakes
The lead couple affirm that in their live-in relationship of 3-4 years, they have made out about 549 times Dialogues throughout the film
Despite the movie was chopped off for over 40 minutes, the length is still a serious concern. The film is very slow and tests your patience levels at times.
On the whole, Arjun Reddy is a laudable effort from the young film maker Sandee Reddy Vanga and praise worthy performance by Vijay Deverakonda which makes the movie a definite treat to watch.
